Why does warranty transfer vary?
Manufacturers set their own regional and international coverage terms and can change them over time. Some coverage follows the watch, while other benefits may depend on registration, an authorised sale or the original purchaser.
Use the terms that apply to the specific watch and purchase date rather than a general marketplace statement.
What should be checked on the documents?
Look for the matching reference or serial, retailer, dated activation and any extended-warranty registration. Service invoices may show later work or coverage that is separate from the original warranty.
Do not alter a card or present an undated document as active coverage.
How can warranty affect a valuation?
Valid remaining manufacturer coverage can improve buyer confidence on some modern watches, but the effect varies with the model, condition and length of cover. It does not replace physical authentication or condition inspection.
An expired matching card can still support provenance and completeness even when it offers no repair coverage.
How should I submit warranty information?
Photograph the relevant card and service documents privately, covering unrelated personal details. State whether the watch has been registered, serviced or subject to a previous claim if known.
For a definitive transfer or claim question, confirm directly with the manufacturer or authorised service network.
